Editors note: In the summer of 2006, Pennsylvania budgeted $38 million for straightening this southbound section of Route 15. The northbound lanes were added a few years ago, and they do not have the character of the southbound side. If you haven't driven down Steam Valley, do so before the original road is gone.
We passed through 4/25/09 and the downhill (southbound) road was closed. Traffic was diverted to a lane on the northbound section and work is in progress on the southbound replacement.
