I believe it is my role as a librarian to:
Provide instruction and tools for users to increase their information literacy which will enable them use these new skills to further their information quest by correctly evaluating the information gathered for accuracy, currency, authority, purpose and content.
Engage the students to think critically about a topic and to explore different avenues of information available.
Challenge myself to continually learn by tapping the resources of other librarians and staff, attending classes, reading the most current literature, and by listening to the users who are our teachers as well as our students.
Actively involve myself in the librarian community by working with others to enhance the role of librarians, contribute my experience in expanding the use of technology in libraries, and by taking an active role in professional organizations.
Stand for the cause of intellectual freedom and democracy in libraries so that all viewpoints are welcomed and encouraged.
