General Notes:
She lived with Aunt Martha Hearit for many years at the end of her life. She immigrated to US in 1883. According to the 1900 US census, she was not able to read or write but she did speak English. It says she was the mother of seven children, five of whom were living in 1900.
I found the Doerings on a passenger list on a microfilm. They were Carl Doering age 34, Elrike 32, Carl 2, Elrike infant. There were 677 passengers on the ship. Rudolf Meyer, Master of Belgian SS Pennland, passengers boarded at Antwerp. The mother was known on later records as Mary, and the first daughter was also known as Mary. It looks like they changed their names.
