John Oliver Cady ²⁰¹

John Oliver Cady (Sone, Eijah, Chester, Jeremiah,..Samuel, Stephen, Capt. John, Nicholas) born March 11, 1883 at Cambridge, Ill. and married Mabel Amanda Ravens, daughter of George Lewis and Amanda Melvina Varner Ravens, born August 18, 1885. They had two daughters: Leon Ellen Cady married Percivel E. Braun and had 2 sons, Jack Allen and Rollin Keith; and Blanche Eve Cady married Rex Justin Baird and had 2 living daughters Joan Mabel and Judith Kay.

John and Mabel first lived on George Lewis Ravens farm, section 1 in Cameron (Nebraska); later moved to the Benton Homestead, 1-mile west and 3-one-half miles south of Cairo. Then in 1909, John bought a farm, 4-miles south of Cairo and one-quarter mile east. Then moved into Cairo in 1913 and built a house at 405 Thebe St. and John fed sheep north of the tracks on High Street. John and Harold Dunlap were partners in a grocery store. Later John went to Beatrice, Nebraska to learn to be a Mortition, which he was the rest of his life. His second wife was Ester Stoeger and his 3rd wife was Ethel Ellis. John bought the Robinson mansion, 307 Alexander St., for his home and funeral home and left it to Leon and Blanche. Blanche and Rex Baird bought it. Leon owns her grandfather's home. ²⁰²

John married Mabel Amanda Ravens, daughter of George Lewis Ravens and Amanda Elizabeth Melvina Varner, on 6 Jan 1904. (Mabel Amanda Ravens was born on 18 Aug 1885 in Cameron Twp., Hall Co., Nebraska, died on 25 Feb 1968 in Cairo, Hall Co., Nebraska and was buried in Cameron Cemetery, Cairo, Hall, Nebraska, USA.)
