They lived in Cairo and John was the town marshall for years, eventually he went to work for Ingalls and Turner Grain Elevators, working for them until he retired. ²³²

John married Evelyn D. Bellamy, daughter of John E. Bellamy and Anna Rachel Hodgson, in 1923 in Nebraska.²³¹ (Evelyn D. Bellamy was born in 1900 in Nebraska,⁶² died on 15 Oct 1998 in Hall Co., Nebraska and was buried on 19 Oct 1998 in Hall Co., Nebraska.)
