Joseph Welsh ¹²

Hi Linda:

I just arrived back from a trip to find your welcome email. My dad,
before he
died, was always hinting that I should spend some time trying to find
more out
about the Welsh relatives that went to Nebraska. From my relatives here
in
Ontario I had a couple of obit's that gave quite a bit of information. I
wasn't
able to find anybody on the WEB, but I did find a couple by phone, but
didn't
get much information from them, then last summer I was contacted by two
people
who had seen my names on roots web. The whole search is getting quite
exciting.
Some of the stuff I received was part of a package prepared by Ralph R.
Richard
in 1986. As I understand, he has since died. His package starts with
the same
James Welsh & Elizabeth Leslie as yours.

At first appearance I am not related to these Welshes. I am
connected to
the Joseph Welsh side of the family of Joseph Welsh that married Elizabeth
Welsh. In fact, they lived on the farm behind the farm I was raised on
in Grey
twp, ON, when they were still in Ontario. I've been collecting
information on
the ancestors and relatives of Elizabeth Welsh, because I am convinced
that the
two families were related even though we don't yet know the connection I
suspect that Joseph & Elizabeth were cousins. They definitely were not
first
cousins, but might have been second or third cousins.

It isn't clear who you descend from, although is is my guess that it
is from
James Jr. & Elizabeth Irwin (my limited record has Irvine?). If you
descend
form this line then were not related (until the suspected connection is
found).
If you descend from William J. Hill & Mary Emma Welsh then we are related?

The IRWIN name on my list come from my mother side of the family. She
descends from one of two Cassidy Brothers who left Fermanagh and came to
Canada
about 1821. They married two IRWIN sisters, Margaret and Sara. That's
all I
know about the Irwins. I would really like to find more relatives for
these
two.

My genealogy program doesn't handle GEDCOM files, so if you send me
your
snail mail address I send you what I have.

Joseph married Elizabeth Welsh, daughter of Peter Welsh and Jane Moncrief, on 8 Jan 1868 in Huron Co., Ontario, Canada. (Elizabeth Welsh was born on 27 Aug 1848 in Brussels, Huron Co., Ontario, Canada, died on 21 Dec 1926 in St. Paul, Howard County, Nebraska and was buried in Warsaw Cemetary, Howard County, Nebraska.)
