"He came to America on a ship with his parents in 1836 to Peterborough, Canada. He was married 30 June 1846 in Peterborough to Jane Moncrief. She came over from Ireland on the same ship as Peter Welsh. They lived in Brussells, Canada, where they had eleven children. Peter Welsh and family, both married and single moved from Canada to Nebraska arriving Oct. 12, 1873. Their family and also the William Crowe family charted a train and moved families, household goods, grain, horses, cattle. machinery, etc. to Grand Island, Nebraska. From there they hauled the materials needed to build their homes, planted trees for timber claim and broke prairie sod for crops." ![]()

(Jane Moncrief was born on 10 Jun 1826 in Ireland, died on 14 Oct 1896 in Howard County, Nebraska and was buried in Warsaw Cemetary, Howard County, Nebraska.) ![]() Peter next married Delia Westburg, daughter of Jones Westburg and Christine Nelson, on 11 Jan 1899 in St. Paul, Howard County, Nebraska. (Delia Westburg was born about 1864 in Moline, Illinois.)
