VIEW FROM JOE SPIVEY'S QUARTERS IN CARRIZOZO
Red Canyon personnel who brought their family with them could live in Carrizozo, if they could find quarters. The camp brought a huge influx of people to the area and probably overwhelmed the little village. Joe had a great view of Carizo Mountain, also known as Razorback Mountain. He once told me that the men who lived in that large house had a store in town and kept a monkey in it. The monkey got to playing with matches and burned down the store.
