DON BOGGES AND NIKE
Commo man Don Bogges loved animals
and was always kind to Nike. Here Don feeds Nike a special treat beside
the Mail Room. Nike often had bad hangovers and must have really appreciated
the treatment from Don. Nike had a special "Class A" uniform, a red blanket
with his name on it and RCRC sewn on the corners. He hated wearing it and
could sense when he was going to be dressed up for some special occasion
so he would run and hide. When the camp was closed in August 1959, Nike
went to live with a New Mexico rancher.
