SGT Alvin Richard Woods known to many of us as just Woody or Rich left Bristol in 1963 and became a Warrant Officer and was a helicopter pilot in Nam. He was on a mission picking up casualities when he was killed by hostile fire December 31, 1965. His family received five posthumous awards from the Army for his heroism and repeated flights into hostile territory. I have a copy of the newspaper accounts and pictures of his family receiving the awards and will email copies of them in jpg format to anyone interested.
