This site is dedicated to the Toy Resource Center in Rochester, NY, formerly called the Rochester Toy Library.

The Toy Resource Center at the Lincoln Branch Library (TRC) offers a wide variety of toys and equipment to enrich play experiences between children and their caregivers. The 4000 toy collection and large playroom is primarily aimed at children ages newborn to 8 years old. Being part of the Rochester Library, and part of the Monroe County Library System, anyone with a library card in the metro-Rochester area can borrow toys. The toys are divided up into various sections, and the collection includes riding toys, puzzles, games, musical instruments, puppets, trains, blocks, building sets, play kitchens, doll houses, dress up clothes, science sets, and many, many more. There's even a section devoted to special needs toys and learning aids. The Toy Resource Center started as the Rochester Toy Library (RTL) back in 1985 as a project of the Junior League of Rochester. The RTL was very successful as a standalone toy library, including two generous playrooms painted in wonderful themes and beautiful pictures on the walls. The collection grew to over 5000 toys, using a membership based model. For those who could not afford memberships, the community provided frequent grants. Over time, the costs of renting and maintaining a standalone facility were too much for a self-funded toy library. In 1994, the Society for Protection and Care of Children (SPCC) of Rochester stepped in as the owner, providing funding and leadership for several years. Then in 1998 the SPCC gifted the Rochester Toy Library over to the Lincoln Branch of the Rochester Public Library. When relocated to the Lincoln Branch, the toy library was renamed "Toy Resource Center at the Lincoln Branch".
