Driven Element

Under Construction

The reflector and driven elements are built some what the same.  I will cover the driven element first.  I used 1/8” plastic to build a mount for the SO-239 and secure it with #6 screws and nuts. 2 of the #6 screws are 1/2” for the top and bottom of the SO-239 and a #6 by 1” on the side, this will be used to connect one side of the driven loop.  Use #12 copper wire (I leave the insulation on) for both elements.  Each side of the driven element will be 20 1/2”.  Each side of the reflector is 21 21/32”.  Feed through the support and then put the 90 deg bends in.  For the reflector you will make a loop and solder the ends together.  After the assembly of this part of the antenna I hung it from the false overhead with string, added the first director and use my antenna analyzer to check the SWR.  It tuned in at 145.9 with 1:1.2 and at 144.2 it was 1:1.4.  I hope this will come down once it goes up on the tower.
