Cowboy Action Shooting
I have been invloved in the cowboy competitive shooting since 1994 and have enjoyed every minute of it. This type of shooting combines skill with old west fantasy. It is a time machine to the American frontier where the good guys wore white hats and the bad guys wore black. Well we all know that it wasn't like that but it sounded good. I have been a life member of SASS every since I started into this fantastic hobby. This is a sport where the entire family can get involved with many different shooting classes. Shooting clubs have been springing up all over the US and the world for that matter. For more information visit some of the many links that will take you to the Old West.
Shootin Irons
My choice of shootin irons are a couple of Ruger Vaqueros in .45 Colt caliber but I shoot the .45 S & W casings. These are in stainless steel with the 4 5/8 barrels. For my trusty long gun I like the Marlin Cowboy in .45 Colt. Again I shoot the .45 S & W casings in it but my Navy Arms Henry in .44-40 is one of my favorites too. For my "Street Howitzer" I like the IGA Stoeger 12 gauge. I like the 26 inch barrel but also like the "Coach Gun". Of course all ammunition is loaded with Pyrodex(BP Substitute). On those times where I do find myself shooting smokeless ammunition my Colt and Navy Arms Schofield fill my holsters.
