Alaska Anniversary Adventure
On July 8. 2015, Dan and Brenda Hansen embarked
on a nine day Alaskan Adventure to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary
that would be coming up October 11 later that year. They flew from Appleton,
Wisconsin, to Chicago, and then on to Fairbanks for a two-night stay. They saw
the Alaskan pipeline, took a riverboat ride on the Chena where they witnessed a
floatplane demo, dog sled demo, and wandered through a native Alaskan frontier village replica.
From Fairbanks, the Hansens took a railroad journey to Denail National Park
where they stayed two nights and took a 7-hour tundra bus tour into the heart of
the park. They were greeted with spectacular scenery and amazing wildlife
incuding Grizzly bears, Dall Sheep, Caribou, and moose.
After Denali, it was on to Anchorage by motorcoach, and then another train ride to
Seward. Again, breathtaking views of fjords, canyons, gorges, and glaciers
were at every turn. They even spied Dall sheep on hilltops as they dined on their
skillet breakfasts in the locomotive's dining car.
They barely got off the train in Seward before they were boarding a Kenai Fjords's
vessel to cruise Resurrection Bay and the Gulf of Alaska. There they encountered
orcas, humped back whales, sea lions, puffins, harbor seals, and sea otters.
The grand finalŽ was an up close and personal view of the Aialik Glacier.
The following day, the two returned to Anchorage via motorcoach and flew back
home with marvelous memories.
This part of the webite is still under construction, but below are a few photos of
