The minned conquest of space
The beginnings
Where to start with the minned conquest of space? Should we start with the first minifigs
to stare at the night sky, wondering what was there?
Should we start with the rocketry experiments on Studdard, who created the first liquid
engined rockets?
We could start with Werner Von Brick, the genius behind the WWII V-2.
We could een start with President Brickedy, and his vow to put a man on the moon.
But really, those are all important precursors to the conquest of space, but they didn't
really conquer space. Conquering space would have to wait until minkind had an easier
access to space, to when minkind started living in space. That is where this story begins.
Getting to space
Nowadays, there are two common ways to get into space. The cheapest way, for cargo that can
handle the excesssive G-forces, is with the magnetic catapult. The catapult launches cargo
high into that atmosphere, to about Mach 10, where upon rocket engines take over to get teh cargo into Low Earth Orbit. Unfortunately, the high G forces would turn a min into a mass of
ABS, so for minkind, a different method is needed.
Space shuttle are much more expensive than the space catapult, but is the only way to get mins and other delicate cargo into orbit. The Stovepipe space shuttle is a regeneratively cooled airplane, fueled with liquid hydrogen and a small amount of liquid oxygen. The engines are dual purpose rocket/aerospikes, capable of operating from rest at sea level up to LEO.
Maneuvering in space
The OTV is the ubiquitous tug that transfers loads from LEO, deposited by the space catapult to upper level orbits where they are used to build space craft, space stations resupply space stations.
One the moon, the stylish way to get around is on the Selendian Scout. Available for rent (with suitable deposit) at most Lunar outposts, or for purchase with the easy company credit plan.
Danger in space
Space in dangerous, that's why it's smart to carry an escape pod. The Econopod is the cheapeast way out of orbit.
Fighting in space
Mins are min, and sometimes mins disagree, sometimes strongly. A good way to head off disagreements is with the Pegasus, the most versatile single seat fighter/scout money can buy. Whatever your need, scramble interceptions, orbital superiority, combat space patrol, front line or remote support, or long range scouting, the Pegasus can provide, and is the market leader in several of those niches.
If you need to disagree strongly, the LRP-38 will certainly do it. The LRP-38 is a long range strike craft designed to deliver a disagreement deep in hostile territory.
