The Dec., '06 Ice Storm |

Tuesday, Dec. 21, & Wednesday we had mist and rain while the temperature hovered just below freezing. Our power was out for about 18 hours Wednesday afternoon and all night with a brief power on period that allowed us to fill some water jugs. We have our own well, and it's electric. So is our furnace. Dinner was prepared on the propane grille and we ate by candle light.
Had it been in a remote mountain cabin, that might have been romantic... [click on any picture] |

One could stand and listen to the tinkling of the ice as the wind blew, the cracking of branches like a .22 or air rifle, and the slumpf as the ice-laden branches hit the deck. |
