About Tuesday, the newlyweds ventured out of their
house and traveled to Colorado Springs to putz with Rod's house and yard.
On Wednesday morning, the honeymoon restarted with a literal bang as Rod and Connie met (nearly
head-on) a little old lady late for an appointment with her hairdresser.
... a bad hair day.
Oh, well, the Mazda was for sale anyway. Didn't get quite the price I wanted from the other insurance
company, but was freed of selling and/or towing the spare car. |

Over Wolf Creek Pass and on to Pagosa Springs and the
hot springs there. Some of the bathing pools were inundated by the high runoff water of the San Juan... the sign
reads "closed." |
We visited Chimney Rock, but did not hike to the Anasazi
ruins... maybe next time.
Echo lake provided a pleasant afternoon... |

Friday: down to the San Juan below Navajo Reservoir in NM.
Connie donned waders and joined Rod in the stream.
Rod has been there before, but never enjoyed such catching as well as fishing! Ten trout to the
net, three of them lunkers, plus several LLRs (Long Line Release = played 'em, but didn't net 'em)
What a day !! |

Saturday: through Durango and over the San Juans on the million dollar
highway to Silverton and Ouray. Then a jaunt to Telluride, a 45 mile drive, although it's only a few miles from
Ouray (as the crow flies).
Sunday: Laundry day as Rod forgot to load a wardrobe. Then on to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. (The middle
shot below is not a waterfall; it's looking down on the Gunnison, nearly 2000 feet below.) |
