Death | 1 October 1862 | Warrenton, Va | Death of James John Fowler |
Event Note
There is a one day conflict in the compiled service records as to the date of death for James John Fowler. The paperwork his wife, Mary Elizabeth (Stansill) Fowler filed states that he died on September 30th 1862, but the letter of payment sent to Mary E. Fowler from the Treasury Department Confederate States on November 3rd 1863 says that John James died on the 1st of Oct 1862. The Descriptive List and Account of Pay and Clothing dated 28 Feb 1863 corroborates the October date. |

Narrative
I had, at one time, listed the name as John James Fowler, this was taken from the book The House of Fowler. After collecting service records it appears the names got switched around in the book, all of the service records, including paperwork done by his wife, list his name as James J. Fowler, so I will list it as James John Fowler.
