Some older people recall that Sacramento, located northwest of Mantorville, began when a man said he had found gold. In a dirt bank he discovered some gold flakes.
After he sold his farm for a high price and left the area, the story emerged that he had loaded his shotgun with the gold flakes and shot at the dirt bank.
