John Horton Brown served in WW1 in the Canadian Expeditionary Force as member of the 188 Battlion that sailed from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada for England on October 12, 1916 aboard the S.S. Olympic. Regimental #886080.Next of kin my grandfather John Edward Brown of Brancepeth, Saskatchewan, Canada.Horton was taken on strength (enlisted) at Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Canada, November 11, 1915.The 188th Battlion was absorbed by the 15th Reserve battlion. From ther they fought forthe 5th, 28th, 46 and 1st Canadian Mounted Rifles.
Horton and Edith were living on Manitoulin Island for about a six month period when Terry was born. They then moved back to Toronto where Horton worked for Eatons of Canada in the feed department. However, he had lung problems and the dust from the feed was so bad that he had to leave this job. They started traveling with the circuses operating a food concession.
