Hi, I’m Gary and the main author of our Web site. I retired from IBM in Poughkeepsie, New York after working as a Software Engineer for the last 26 ½ years. Before going to work for IBM, I taught 7th and 8th grade Math at Middletown Public Schools in Middletown, New York for 8 years.
Paula Leather is one of the Artist in the family. She works in the advertising department of the Thruway Shopping Center in Walden. Below is some of her work:
About the Leather Family
Since retiring at the end of 2007, I have done some substitute teaching. In 2009 I became a member of the newly created Town of Montgomery Community Garden. The community garden was started by the Town of Montgomery CAC. As a member of the community garden, I helped get the fence up and had my own 20’ x 20’ plot. I enjoy gardening and have won 2nd place twice for our gardens at our home in Walden. In 2010 I was appointed a member of the Town of Montgomery Conservation Advisory Council (CAC).
In 2010, I also was elected President of the Town of Montgomery Community Garden.
Recently, I also started putting together a web site for the MHV IBM Retirees Club.
In my spare time I’ve gotten involved going to the Walden Village Board meetings on a regular basis.
I also like to go walking several of the rail trails in the area including our own Walden Rail Trail.
