Scholarships
The Foundation offers two types of scholarships to residents of the towns of Sweden and Hamlin. The Philip and Margaret Dollard Business Scholarship and the Marie Dollard McGrath Elementary Education Scholarship.
The Marie Dollard McGrath Elementary Education Scholarship
This scholarship is in honor of Ms. McGrath’s mother, Marie Dollard McGrath, who taught elementary students in the City of Rochester School District. The scholarship is for students pursuing graduate or undergraduate degrees in elementary education at an accredited college or university. The scholarship is for tuition only.
The Philip and Margaret Dollard Business Scholarship
This scholarship is in honor of Ms. McGrath’s grandparents, Philip and Margaret Dollard, who operated a successful business in the Town of Hamlin, NY. The scholarship is for students pursuing graduate or undergraduate degrees in business at an accredited college or university. The scholarship is for tuition only.
Requirements
- Applicant must be a resident of either the Town of Sweden or Hamlin, New York with a minimum of 2 years of residency.
- Applicant should have maintained at least a “B” or numerical equivalent grade point average.
- Applicant should be enrolled in or accepted to an accredited college or university with a major in elementary education or business.
- Applicant should demonstrate strong moral character, clear sense of purpose, maturity and leadership ability as evidenced by recommendations.
- Applicant should demonstrate financial need.
- All scholarship submissions are due by March 1st for the upcoming academic school year beginning in the fall.
*Scholarship recipients shall not be selected or rejected on the basis of their race, religion, natural or ethnic origin or other illegally discriminating criteria.
