James Sutherland Born: 1812 Died: Dec-1871 Father: Robert, Jr Sutherland Mother: Nancy Ann McCleod Other Spouses: Moranda Sanders Source Lowell Watson, ggrandson; James lived in Oromocto and later in Fredericton. He was a tanner and courier of leather. He became a wealthy man at the time. He owned a large establishment in Fredericton, having a shoe shop and a harness makers shop. The he had a general store which dealt with mercantile business. He furnished lumber camps in which he had an interest. The big crash came in 1843. Lumber was no longer in demand and the lumber camps failed. James suffered heavy losses, too. |
