Nathaniel Robinson Born: 4-Apr-1724 Died: 19-Dec-1815 Father: Nathaniel Robinson Mother: Zilpah Daggett Robinson History of Westminster, VT says: "Nathaniel Robinson Esq. was deacon of the Baptist Church, held various town offices of trust and was a member of the State Legislature from 1778 to 1780." "He was an active member of the constitutional conventions, including the one held at Windsor, VT June 7 1777, which adopted the Declaration of Independence of Vermont." " In 1778 the first county on the east side of Vermont was established and given the name of Cumberland with two shire towns, Westminister and Newbury. Nathaniel IV was voted in by the General Assembly as one of the judges in special courts held at Westminister, VT." "He received a vote of thanks for his valuable services at the time of the massacre at Westminister March 13, 1775." He came to Westminister about 1772 and was buried in the old graveyard near Eatonplace, his home." |

The first town meeting was held at the home of Dr. Nathaniel Robinson March 25, 1794. He was elected Town Clerk and held that office until his death. Amos and Ezekiel were two of the selectmen; Ezekiel, one of the listers. Amos was the first representative in the legislature of 1801. Dr. Nathaniel Robinson settled a little NW of what was later the poor farm in the Robinson District, was buried at East Hill Cemetery at the Four Corners. Represented Northfield in the State Legislature. |
