" In 1778 the first county on the east side of Vermont was established and given the name of Cumberland with two shire towns, Westminister and Newbury. Nathaniel IV was voted in by the General Assembly as one of the judges in special courts held at Westminister, VT." "He received a vote of thanks for his valuable services at the time of the massacre at Westminister March 13, 1775." He came to Westminister about 1772 and was buried in the old graveyard near Eatonplace, his home." |
