OutSide at Heritage Days 1999

The grounds of the Heritage Center were busy for Heritage Days. Here are a few photos of what was happening on the grounds.

There is a Farmer's Market every Saturday at the Heritage Center in summer. This is what you would have seen Saturday morning at Heritage Days this year.

A feast for the eyes as well as ingredients for some delicious meals were displayed on this table. Note the rutabaga which disappeared shortly after the photo was taken.

Republic Truck photo

This 1919 Republic truck was displayed by Willis and Delores Selle. It was built in Alma, Michigan, saw service in Iowa and then in western Wisconsin. It was restored by Willis to its original colors. When built it was available in green or black with a yellow chassis.

The Blacksmith Shop is one of the new additions to the Heritage Center. It was built as a barn, probably by James Lee, about 1875 and was the only building in that area for several years. It was disassembled and restored log by log on the Heritage Center grounds. Soon it will house a smithy.

Stagecoach photo

Stagecoach rides were a popular activity at this year's celebration. The stagecoach and team were supplied by Sunset Valley Ranch. It was getting late in the day, but you can see that the guard takes her job of riding shotgun seriously.
