Hi! I’m Joy Voltenburg and I love quilting! I’ve been quilting since just after the turn of the century. Doesn't that make me sound ancient!
My mother taught me how to sew way back when and I've always had a sewing machine in my house to make drapes or home decorator projects. I took a class on a whim with a couple of coworkers and made a queen-size Log Cabin. I was hooked. That first quilt I quilted on my 401A Singer sewing machine with a walking foot. I named it "My Pucker Quilt" after all the many puckers I wound up having in it. I still use it today and it's a good reminder of how far I've come in making quilts.
Today, I have an A1 Elite longarm machine and frame and am just blown away with how much I love to quilt - especially custom quilting. The picture shown below was the 4th quilt I quilted on my very first frame in 2010 and is my own design. I call it Pretty in Purple.
Since then, I have had quilts accepted at Paducah in 2012 and 2013 and several national juried shows. I've won numerous ribbons and I give thanks every day that I am able to fulfill my passion.
