"Several Upland Pioneers Passed Away Last Week"

"Mrs. Chas. Bjorklun passed away about six o'clock Thursday evening at the hospital in Minden after a long illness that kept her confined to her bed most of the time. Funeral services were held at the home in Upland at 1:15 Monday afternoon and at 1:30 at the U.B. Church.. Rev. Otto Engebreton of Ord, a former pastor, assisted by Rev. Chittenden, had charge. A mixed quartett, Mrs. Lars Ibsen, Mrs. Jules Hendricks, Emerald Nielsen and Albert Austermen sang. Mrs. Ella Bunger played accompaniment. The following were pallbearers: Ernest Asay, Waldo Bodinson, Paul Andy and Carl Sorenson, and Oscar Sear, all of Kearney. Burial was in the Upland cemetery beside her first husband. The following from out of town were here to attend the funeral: Mr. Bjorklun's brother and sister, August Bjorklun and wife and Mrs. Walter Eckman and Mr. Eckman, all of Haxtun, Colo.; Mr. and Mrs. E.A. Nelson, Franklin; Mr. and Mrs. Pete Sorenson, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Sear, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Asay, Mr. and Mrs. Waldo Bodinson, Paul, Andy and Carl Sorenson, all of Kearney."

• Denmark to U.S., 1833, Upland, Franklin Co., Nebraska. 15 "In 1883 she came with her parents to Upland and settled on a farm five miles east of Upland where she grew to womanhood. She was one of four children and was raised in a kind and loving home."

• Moved to St.Paul, Nebraska, 1891, St. Paul, Howard County, Nebraska.

• Adopted child, 1903, St. Paul, Howard County, Nebraska. In 1903, Aaron Wolfe (Alfred Hokanson) from the Nebraska Children's Home was taken to be reared in their home.

• moved to Upland, Nebraska, 1908, Upland, Franklin Co., Nebraska.

• Death of husband, 9 Dec 1912.

• Joined Danish Lutheran Church, 1914. In 1914 she was confirmed by Rev. Jensen and joined the Danish Lutheran church.

• Joined Friend's Church, 1917. Swedish Mission Friend's Church

• moved to Upland, Nebraska, 1919, Upland, Franklin Co., Nebraska. They came to Upland in 1919 where the remainder of her life was spent.
