Unmarried. "We all got the measles when I was 12, and both Leola and Bessie, the two oldest, got the measles and it turned into pneumonia and they died just a month apart. Clarice was in California and came home alone."- Nora Welsh Hammer

Memorial: Bessie Welsh, member of the C.E. of Elba, Nebr. died at her home in that village May 17, 1899, aged 20 years 9 mos. 5 days. She was a very active Christian and a much loved and respected young lady. Her next younger sister died just four weeks previous and we believe there was a happy reunion when they met each other after so short a separation. The bereavement was extraordinarily sad as the family have been afflicted with sickness all winter and these two girls had helped bear the burdens during this trial and then as spring opened and relief was expected they were taken away. We do not know all; perhaps it is well we do not; but "there'll come a time" when we shall "see face to face," and "Know as we are known." The writer conducted the service using Ps. xxiii, 4. L.L.
