Glenn L. Welsh, 56, died at his home, 212 Division St., Thursday, December 25, following an extended illness. He had recently undergone an operation for a brain tumor. He was born October 12, 1896, in Elba, Nebraska. He came to Tuscola County, Michigan, with his family in 1910. For thirty-five years a building contractor, he also had been active in civic affairs as a member of the Board of Education for nine years, the Village Council and as Village Clerk for several years. His activities also extended to fraternal and veteran's organizations. He was a past master of Vassar Masonic Lodge, a past commander of Atkinson Post of the American Legion, a member of the Vassar Order of Eastern Star, and of the Vassar Methodist Church.

Vassar--Services will be held 15 2:30 P.M. Sunday for Glenn L. Welsh, Board of Education and Village Council Member for many years, who died at his home at 212 Division St. Thursday.
The services under direction of the Gage Funeral Home, will be held at the home with Dr. Harry A. Brewer officiating. Burial will be at Riverside.
Mr. Welsh, a contractor in this area for 35 years, was born Oct. 12, 1896 in Elba, Neb. He came to this area with his family in 1910 and on Sept. 25, 1919 he married Leta Hixon of Elkhart, Ind.
In addition to his service on the school board and council, Mr. Welsh was a past master of the Vassar Masonic lodge, apast commander of the Atkinson Post of the American Legion and a member of the Vassar Order of Eastern Star and of the Vassar Methodist Church.
He leaves Mrs. Welsh; two sons, Glenn, Jr., and Erwin, both of Vassar; a daughter, Mrs. Frank Guglietta, Hartford, Conn.; three sisters, Mrs. Nora Hammer, Vassar, Mrs. Nellie Riley, Denver, and Mrs. Maude Dunning, Arcadia, Neb; a brother, Fred Welsh, Millington, and three grandchildren.
Glenn married Leta Jane Hixon, daughter of Jerry David Hixon and Emma Jane Raifsnider, on 25 Sep 1919 in Elkhart, Elkhart, Indiana, USA. (Leta Jane Hixon was born on 30 Jan 1897 in Middlebury, Elkhart, Indiana, died on 12 Dec 1987 in Akron, Tuscola, Michigan 94 and was buried in Riverside Cem., Vassar, Tuscola Co., Michigan.)
