Joseph Henry Frain ¹²

  General Notes:

Last Saturday our people were shocked by the announcement that Joe Fraine had died very suddenly at his home in this city. The cause of his sudden taking off was apoplexy. He had been working in the garden and came to the house complaining that he was not feeling right and in a short time thereafter was dead.

Joseph Henry Fraine was born at Brussels, Huron Co., Canada on August 10, 1859, and was 48 years, 7 months and 24 days old. At the age of 17 he went to Michigan, and in 1881 came to Howard County where he has lived all the time except two years that he spent in Denver. He was married to Miss Carrie Welsh on December 23, 1886. Since then his home has been in St. Paul. Joe was a good hearted fellow despite his rough exterior, and he had a good many friends here.. Besides his wife, he is survived by four brothers and five sisters.

Interment was made at Elba on Monday the 5th, Rev. Smith of the Free Methodist Church conducting the services. His relatives from a distance did not arrive in time for the funeral. A sister, Mrs. Herbison and family, came from Denver. Owing to the train service, they did not arrive until after four o'clock. The family and many friends and relatives have the sympathy of the community in this hour of their bereavement.

Joseph married Caroline E. Welsh, daughter of James Welsh Jr. and Elizabeth Irvine, on 23 Dec 1886 in Howard County, Nebraska ¹⁴¹.^,142 (Caroline E. Welsh was born on 21 Mar 1870 in Brussels, Huron Co., Ontario, Canada and died on 27 Mar 1949 in Salina, Saline Co., Kansas.)

  Marriage Notes:

"He was married to Miss Carrie Welsh on December 23, 1886. Since then his home has been in St. Paul." ¹⁴¹

Joseph next married Lena Harris on 13 Dec 1882 in Kelso, Howard County, Nebraska. (Lena Harris was born about 1861 in Wisconsin.)
