Guidance Counselors

At Dowdell our Guidance Counselors change grade levels with the students they serve. The 6th grade Guidance Counselor this year would then become the 7th grade Guidance Counselor next year. Please ask your student which Guidance Counselor they have and feel free to use the links below to e-mail them.

8th Grade Counselor

  1. Collect and disperse information on special health problems requiring instructional consideration.
  2. Counsel students in small group settings.
  3. Responsible for classroom guidance (conflict resolution, "he said, she said," etc.).
  4. Organize and administer the "Duke" test to all qualified 8 th grades.
  5. Assist Assistant Principal in planning the extended school year program.
  6. Assist Assistant Principal with program planning.
  7. Coordinating make-up work for absent students.
  8. Counsel student upon return from out of school suspension.
  9. Review cumulative folder as needed.
  10. Assist with articulation for the feeder/high schools.
  11. Make recommendations concerning schedule changes.
  12. Any and all duties assigned by the Principal.
  13. Testing chairperson, organize, dissimulate, and collect all testing materials.

 

7th Grade Counselor

  1. Collect and disperse information on special health problems requiring instructional consideration.
  2. Chairperson of the child study team.
  3. Counsel students in small group settings.
  4. Responsible for classroom guidance (conflict resolution, "he said, she said," etc.).
  5. Assist Assistant Principal in planning the extended school year program.
  6. Assist Assistant Principal with program planning.
  7. Coordinating make-up work for absent students.
  8. Counsel students upon return from out of school suspension.
  9. Review cumulative folder as needed.
  10. Assist with articulation for the feeder/high schools.
  11. Make recommendations concerning schedule changes.
  12. Member of the crisis team.
  13. Any and all duties assigned by the Principal.

 

6th Grade Counselor

  3. Counsel students in small group settings.
  4. Responsible for classroom guidance (conflict resolution, "he said, she said," etc.).
  5. Assist Assistant Principal in planning the extended school year program.
  6. Assist Assistant Principal with program planning.
  7. Coordinating make-up work for absent students.
  8. Counsel students upon return from out of school suspension.
  9. Review cumulative folder as needed.
  10. Assist with articulation for the feeder/high schools.
  11. Make recommendations concerning schedule changes.
  12. Member of the crisis team.
