SPECIALIST - Rose
Tozzi
Career specialists provide career information and follow-up
services related to occupational, technical, career, and educational
training and employment. The purpose of the program is to assist
students in making the transition from school to work.
The Career Specialist Program has been operating successfully
in Hillsborough County Schools since 1972. It serves parents, school
personnel, the business community and thousands of students per year
in the area of career education. Career Specialists in Hillsborough
County have a minimum of five years of full-time work experience
outside of teaching and two years of postsecondary education plus
experience working with youth successfully.
Our Career Specialist is a member of the student services staff
working together for the continued success of students.

CAREER SPECIALIST
- Provide occupational and technical career
information.
- Assist students in the development of realistic career
goals.
- Recruit students for technical career programs.
- Plan career programs and activities.
- Make career presentations.
- Assess students' interests and aptitudes.
- Provide technical career counseling and referral for
potential school leavers.
- Provide job placement assistance.
- Provide employability skills training.
- Help students obtain work credentials.
- Coordinate activities between schools, the business
community and military services.
- Involve community-based organizations in the career
development of students.
- Consult with parents and school personnel regarding
students' career plans.
- Make referrals to appropriate technical career, educational
and employment programs.
HUMAN RELATIONS SPECIALIST - Donna James

- Manage/Supervise clothes closet.
5. Member of Intervention Team.
- Maintain ongoing follow-up counseling service for students receiving
ISS Ð develop action plan with students.
- Assist with the free/reduced breakfast /lunch program.
- Organize and implement PET, SAC and Connect-A-Kid.
- Small group counseling services for students with classroom disruptions.
- Back-Up in the AP Office as directed by the Principal.
- Supervisory duties as assigned by the Principal or designee.
SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER (SRO)

- Coordinate school activities with the school principal and
staff members.
- Research issues related to law, student safety and
community social problems, and present them
- to students, parents, and facility members.
- Obtain prior approval for classroom presentations from the
Crime Prevention Lieutenant and the
- County School Board or principal of a private
school.
- Inform faculty members of available programs.
- Coordinate Sheriffs Office off-duty personnel for school
activities.
- Participate in school functions and after school
activities, when possible.
- Investigate, document, and notify Unit Supervisor and
school principal of incidents involving
- gangs, or student conflicts that may lead to the disruption
of school functions.
- Establish a liaison between the school and the surrounding
community to give advice or support
- to residents and businesses regarding law enforcement
matters.
- Conference with students, parents and faculty members
regarding problems of a law enforcement
- or Crime Prevention nature.
- As time and duty permits, attend student, parent, faculty,
and community meetings to solicit
- support and understanding of the program.
