INTASC Standard #8: The teacher understands and uses formal and informal assessment strategies to evaluate and ensure the continuous intellectual, social and physical development of the learner. For this standard I have a case study that I conducted during my second Field block placement. I picked one students from my first grade class. I assessed her abilities in reading, developed and implemented ways to encourage further growth were it was needed and ways to utilize the strengths that they already had. Also during my Field Block II I made up my own language arts assessment and reading assessments. The language arts assesses the students knowledge of contractions. The reading assessment is a cloze test. Every fifth word is left blank and the student must fill in the blank correctly to get points for it. This assesses the students reading and comprehension skills. Click on this link to view my Cloze Test.
