The New Richmond Preservation Society was chartered in 1982 to preserve the history of New Richmond and the surrounding area. The Society owns and operates the Heritage Center on the south side of New Richmond on land once part of the Marcus Sears Bell farm. This summer the Heritage Center opened an exhibit in the Pavilion to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the New Richmond Cyclone. The photo above is part of that exhibit, which includes artifacts, comments by survivors, and contemporary accounts of the disaster.
Each autumn the Society sponsors New Richmond Heritage Days. The 1999 festival was held September 24 - 26. Click on any of the photos below to see some of the activities at this year's event.
