Each week during homeroom (also know as Teachers as Advisors), Intramurals provide opportunities for our students to participate in a sports program that includes team games and specials events. The games are modified to accommodate ALL skill levels and to promote team play and sportsmanship. The goal of each sport is for the students to have FUN and enjoy playing organized sports with their classmates.
The Hillsborough County School Board approved the implementation of a Middle School Extramural Athletic Program which began September, 1998. This program allows students who have demonstrated a greater interest in athletics to participate in competition involving other schools. The program will include: Track and Field, Co-Ed Volleyball, Soccer, and Basketball. Dowdell students MUST meet participation and eligibility requirements before being issued equipment or beginning practice.
At Dowdell, an extensive variety of clubs and organizations compliments the overall success of the educational program and student achievement. Our list of clubs and organizations include: The National Junior Honor Society, Math League, Future Farmers of America, Student Council, Chorus, Band, Orchestra, Hand Bell Choir, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Ecology Club, Cooking, Cheerleading, Computers and Technology.
This is a nationwide program similar to a Neighborhood Crime Watch, differing only in that we are using students within the school. This program is designed as a crime prevention, not as a law enforcement activity.
The purpose is to provide a safe environment for our students . If you have any questions or concerns about this organization, please call your school's Resource Officer.
Being a memeber of this Youth Crime Watch core group brings a measure of identification that promotes self respect, school pride and a more positive learning environment for everyone.
