"Rachel was the oldest daughter of William Hodgson. She was born November 20,1859, Pickering, Ontario, Canada. She lived ellamy who had been born in 1860 with her familyin Wisconsin and Canada before moving to Burlington, Illinois. Here, land had been offered to settlers willing to move westward to Nebraska.
Rachel met and married John Bellamy who had been born in 1860. Eight children were born to them but only four survived. These four were: Bert H. married to Elsie Whitefoot (refer to their family history). Bert was born October 21, 1888 and Elsie was born in April 1893.
Grace was married to Edward Lee of Arcadia, Nebraska, they were the parents of three girls.
Winnie, a daughter who was a telephone operator for several years in Cairo was a familiar sight on the streets of Cairo, always extremely well-dressed wore high heels and all of her clothes were designed and made by Nettie Shouse. Whereever she went her little dog would accompany her. After leaving the Cairo vicinity the family lost contact with her.
Evelyn married John Moore. They lived in Cairo and John was the town marshall for years, eventually he went to work for Ingalls and Turner Grain Elevators, working for them until he retired. They were the parents of one daughter, Connie. John passed away and is buried in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Connie is married to Ted Trambley, they have tow daughters. Ted and Connie live in Kearney where he works with Social Services in the area. Evelyn also lives nearby in Kearney. John Bellamy died in 1911 and Rachel passed away April 12, 1930. They are buried in the Cameron Cemetery. In the early years of John and Rachel's marriage and after the death of their four small children, they moved to Michigan for a time. When they returned to Nebraska they lived in Cairo onHigh Street, then moved two miles south and one mile west to the Cox.
